The Vermont stop in the 2011 NYcross.com Cyclocross Series hosted by the Bennington Cycle Club. The course features plenty of grass and natural obstacles – including a vast sand pit – all set in a classic New England surrounding. The park is family friendly with two playgrounds, walking paths and a BMX course. Rest assured that the Bennington Cycling Club folks are working hard to make this race a fun and creepy event.
Registration: Pre-register at www.bikereg.com. Day of registration opens at 8:30am and continues until 20 minutes before each race. Five dollar late fee for day of registration. Riders who qualify may race a second race for $10.
Rules: All USA Cycling rules apply. Racers must wear CPSC approved helmet. No aerobars or sleeveless jerseys. Riders must have a USA Cycling racing license (USA Cycling, NORBA or one-day [cross cat. 4 men/women only] available for $10). Mountain bikes allowed with bar ends removed.
Directions: From West: NY7 to VT 279W, Bennington Downtown Exit, Left 1st light on Kocher Drive, (Burger king on right). Left at first light, up hill approx 0.5mi. Park is on Left at top of hill.
From South: VT7N, straight through town, right on Kocher Drive, (then as above)
From East: VT9W, Right on VT7 in downtown, right on Kocher Drive (see above)
From North: VT7S, Left on Kocher Dr. (then as above)
Mapquest: 560 East Rd. Bennington, VT 05201, for specific directions. We are approx. 50 minutes east of Albany, NY, 45 minutes north of Pittsfield MA, and 50 minutes west of Brattleboro VT.
